Dr. Robert G. Magnelli, Ph.D.

Dr. Robert G. Magnelli, Ph.D. is a licensed, clinical psychologist who has practiced on the Monterey Peninsula since 1977.  He was on staff at Community Hospital and has been in private practice since 1979.

Dr. Magnelli’s practice focuses on the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health issues in children, families, couples, and individuals.

In 2002, Dr. Magnelli began a careful inquiry into the rapidly expanding field in clinical psychology referred to as Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL).  He gained certification in this field through EAGALA  (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) in 2003 and continues to participate in ongoing study and training in the field.

Dr. Magnelli has conducted statistically significant research on his program and, together with his wife, Nancy, authored a well-received training manual featuring the Horsepower EAL Power Tools program. Currently, it is available for purchase through eagala.org. Dr. Magnelli has  owned and loved horses for over thirty years, and from early on, grasped their effect upon emotional well-being.
